Tech Connect Speaker Guide

Topics

Tech Connect is focused on tech-related topics. Most talks should be about technology, software, systems, electronics, and business topics related to operating a technical business. Talks can be focused on any level of expertise from beginner to expert but should have a gentle introduction to get some orientation for a novice.

There is also room for some less technical presentations in the same vein as Ted Talks.

Time

Talks should aim to be around 10-15 minutes. Please let us know if you think your talk will be shorter or longer.

Facility

Presentations will be displayed on a large LCD TV via HDMI. The room has a capacity of 33 people.

Publication

Presentations will be recorded and uploaded to the Lawrence Public Library YouTube account. If you do not want your presentation uploaded please let us know. If you want a copy of your presentation video, bring a physical device with at least 1GB of space.

Can I talk about my for-profit business?

If your business is community-focused and novel for the area then yes. Please contact us for clarification if you are not sure your business fits this definition.

Remote Presentations

We currently are only doing in-person speakers.

I’m not a good speaker.

This is a friendly and encouraging community with speakers ranging from extremely experienced presenters who have talked at multiple conferences to those giving their very first talk. This is a safe way to dip your toes into presenting with the opportunity for as much or as little feedback as you wish.
